Save A crispy flavorful appetizer featuring spicy buffalo chicken dip rolled in wonton wrappers and baked to perfection. Perfect for parties and game day snacking.
I first made these Buffalo Chicken Dip Pinwheel Wontons for a family game night and they disappeared faster than I could refill the platter. Their crispiness and tangy bite make them irresistible for both adults and kids.
Ingredients
- Chicken & Cheese Mixture: 2 cups cooked chicken breast, finely shredded, 120 g (4 oz) cream cheese, softened, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese, 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce (more or less to taste), 2 tbsp ranch dressing, 2 green onions, thinly sliced, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Assembly: 24 square wonton wrappers, 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash), Cooking spray or oil, for baking
Instructions
- Prep Oven and Sheet:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, blue cheese, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined and creamy.
- Shape Pinwheels:
- Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean work surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the buffalo chicken mixture along one edge of each wrapper, forming a thin log.
- Roll & Seal:
- Roll each wrapper tightly into a pinwheel shape. Brush the edges with beaten egg to seal.
- Arrange and Oil:
- Place pinwheels seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush or spray the tops with oil or cooking spray.
- Bake:
- Bake for 16–18 minutes, or until the wontons are golden and crisp.
- Serve:
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with extra ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping if desired.
Save My kids love helping roll up these wontons and always argue over who gets the crispiest ones fresh out of the oven. It has become our new game day staple and everyone looks forward to them.

Recipe Guide
- → What type of chicken is best for the pinwheels?
Cooked, shredded chicken breast works best for a tender, lean filling. Rotisserie chicken is a convenient option.
- → Can these pinwheels be made spicy or mild?
Yes, adjust the buffalo wing sauce quantity or add cayenne pepper for extra heat to suit your taste.
- → How do I prevent wonton wrappers from drying out before baking?
Keep wrappers covered with a damp cloth while assembling to maintain moisture and prevent cracking.
- → Is it possible to use an air fryer for cooking?
Absolutely! Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway for even crispiness.
- → What dipping sauces pair well with these pinwheels?
Ranch or blue cheese dressings complement the spicy, creamy filling perfectly when served alongside.
